Tobi_Tobin09For the past few years my friend has been raving about Los Angeles-based interior designer Tobi Tobin and her flagship store on Sunset Blvd. Last month while in LA for a book signing and Legends of La Cienega we made a visit to the very cool and carefully curated shop. The vintage couture jewelry, furniture, fine linens, rare books, custom candles and hand-made chocolates (produced locally) reflect perfectly Tobi’s passion for design and luxury. The store was everything Brad said it to be and more. The candles and chocolates alone were to die for. An authentic Parisian confectionery display cabinet housed the yummy dark beauties; truffle fudge topped with French grey sea salt was my favorite.

MCravottaEven after seven years of blogging, and being immersed in the interior design industry, I am still  excited to meet new people (there are many!) and witness wonderful creativity. Most recently Beth Brenner kindly introduced me to fellow Texan and talented interior designer Mark Cravotta. Being in Texas for the summer I have had the privilege of spending time in Austin with Mark and his wife Monica. On my last trip they graciously offered me their cool guesthouse (yes, it’s available to rent).

With my book at the printer I can finally get back to featuring more profiles on All the Best; I am thrilled to start with interior designer Timothy Corrigan. With offices in both Los Angeles and Paris, Timothy is known for his perfect balance of European grandeur and California comfort. A perfect example is his own home in Los Angeles’s Hancock Park neighborhood. His 1922 Georgian Colonial–style house is grand, yet bright, classic and cheerful. The house Timothy now calls home is the same house he grew up in as a child. When the property went on the market a few years ago there were seven other offers. So he sent the owner a photo of him in the swimming pool when he was a boy, with a note that read, ‘Let me come home.’

For ages I have ripped pages from magazines, safely tucking them away for when I need inspiration. Some years I am really organized and neatly store each page in a protective cover that is then secured in my big white binder. Other years the pages stack up…many still waiting to be filed.

Last Christmas I had the great pleasure of meeting fellow Southerner Jane Scott Hodges at the home of Charlotte Moss. I have always been of the opinion that everything looks better with a beautiful monogram and Jane Scott (Founder of Leontine Linens) is one woman who understands and supports my position.

    Ben Dhong

The brilliant San Francisco based interior designer Benjamin Dhong has a fascinating story. During a trip to Italy in 2004, to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday, he meet and befriended designer Martha Angus. After chatting over the course of two weeks about their mutual love of design and art, Martha invited him to apprentice...

Honestly, I cannot remember the first time that I meet Suysel Depedro Cunningham (one half of Tilton Fenwick) or how we became online acquaintances. I do however distinctly remember first seeing the work of Tilton Fenwick and meeting the dynamic duo Suysel and Anne Maxwell Foster. The two launched their interior design firm in...

Anyone who can wax lyrical about Babe Paley, began their career at the venerable interior design firm of Parish Hadley and considers color and candy their two biggest sources of inspiration is someone with whom I can spend hours talking and listening. Tweet

This past spring I had the great pleasure of having lunch with design luminary David Easton, along with his partner Jimmy Steinmeyer and Business Manager Cobus Gauche. Considered to be one of the world’s most sought-after interior designers, it is well noted that David is immensely gifted. What I did not know prior to...
