    CLINTSMITHCongratulations Clinton. A perfect choice!
Via Editor at LargeClinton Smith has been named editor in chief of VERANDA, and will start in his new role on September 3. He will replace Dara Caponigro, who announced her resignation in May. Smith will relocate to New York City from Atlanta, where he has served as editorial director of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles (AH&L) since April 2008. He rejoined the brand after a period as senior editor of Southern Accents, having previously led AH&L from January 2003 to June 2007. Prior to that, Smith was a project coordinator for Apple at the company’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters. From 2000-2001, he was senior editor at Wiesner Publishing and began his career as editorial director of New South Publishing, Inc. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

“Clint has devoted his career to covering style, design and decoration, and there is no one better qualified to take the helm of VERANDA,” Turner said. “His strong relationships with designers and manufacturers are a tremendous asset, and his passion for great design will inspire readers of every issue.”

“With its elegant yet unpretentious voice, VERANDA is unparalleled in its commitment to gracious living, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead the magazine into its next chapter,” Smith said. “Building upon its strengths, I look forward to continuing VERANDA’s legacy of delivering the very best home decoration, style, jewelry, travel, culture and more, and am thrilled to join the Hearst team.”

Congratulations, Clinton! Wishing you all the best. I also subscribe to AH&L. Wonder who’ll be editorial director there now?

      Hi Ronda
This is of course very good news for Veranda and for the shelter group of magazines in general. I know that Clinton will continuously hold up the premier status of Veranda.
