The inimitable Keith Granet, founder of Granet and Associates, launches his inaugural program Inside the Business of Design: An Interview Series with Keith Granet. Bjarke Ingels and Robert A.M. Stern will kick off the first two interviews in 2012. The series will be held at the Tishman Auditorium at the New School in New York. I had the pleasure of hearing Bjarke speak in Copenhagen; trust me…he is NOT to be missed.

Inside the Business of Design is a series of one‐on‐one interviews between highly respected design professionals and Keith Granet. The series will explore the business side of prominent architecture and interior design practices. The program will be recorded and shared with the design community at large. The series runs over a six month period one night a month in New York City.
About Keith Granet:
Keith Granet is the author of the recently published book “The Business of Design” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2011). Granet has three decades of experience in the design industry and his firm Granet and Associates is a leading management agency for designers and architects. The company has worked with over 400 firms in the past twenty years servicing their clients in business management, strategic planning, brand development and licensing. Granet is a co‐founder of the Leaders of Design Council and the Design Leadership Summit/Network. He also is the founder the Designer Speakers Bureau. Mr. Granet teaches at The University of California Los Angeles and The University of Southern California. Granet lives in Los Angeles with his family.
About Bjarke Ingels:
Bjarke Ingels started BIG Bjarke Ingels Group in 2005 after co‐founding PLOT Architects in 2001 and working at OMA in Rotterdam. Through a series of award‐winning design projects and buildings, Bjarke has developed a reputation for designing buildings that are as programmatically and technically innovative as they are cost and resource conscious. Bjarke has received numerous awards and honors, including the Danish Crown Prince’s Culture Prize in 2011, the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2004, and the ULI Award for Excellence in 2009. In 2011, the Wall Street Journal awarded Bjarke the Architectural Innovator of the Year Award. In 2012, the American Institute of Architects granted the 8 House its Honor Award, calling it “a complex and exemplary project of a new typology.”
Alongside his architectural practice, Bjarke taught at Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, and Rice University and is an honorary professor at the Royal Academy of Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen. He is a frequent public speaker and has spoken in venues such as TED, WIRED, AMCHAM, 10 Downing Street, and the World Economic Forum.
