Cape Ann Photo Tour

This past weekend was my first visit to Cape Ann and the town of Gloucester (America’s Oldest Seaport). Cape Ann is a rocky cape in northeastern Massachusetts and forms the northern edge of Massachusetts Bay. I think it is one of the prettiest coastlines in all of Massachusetts.
Cape Ann’s four communities: Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea, are home to fishermen, artists, merchants and writers. It’s a great mix of culture and small-town charm. Every curve of the rugged coastline offers harbors, lighthouses, islands, beaches, quarries, inlets and coves.
I was particularly taken with the village of Annisquam, a small waterfront neighborhood located in the City of Gloucester. On Memorial Day we had a picnic on “Lighthouse Beach” in Annisquam and dinned on delicious BLTs- my idea of heaven.
You were so close to where I live a little further up the coast in Newburyport, MA. Annisquam is very charming! You were in the perfect spot for Memorial Day. BLTs too! ; )

so glad you enjoyed your visit to our beautiful Cape Ann! Hope you able to stop at Farnham’s for clam chowder. We’ve had people visit from all over and always take them to Farnham’s and everyone agrees it is the best!
I did not make it to Farnham’s (and I LOVE chowder). I may return this summer and I will add it to my list!! Thank you.
Oh, you are so lucky to have visited one of my favorite places in the whole world! Having lived in Boston twice, your pictures made my heart ache with memories of day trips to those beautiful towns/beaches. Good Harbor Beach was my son’s favorite – Great for little ones and building sand castles. ‘sigh’ Wish we could move back — some day
Oh and if you have never visited Nantucket, you MUST add it to your list! You will fall in love. We still make the trek from MN back to the Little Gray Lady every summer – We’re going on 27 years now. Enjoy your summer
My friend Mary loves Good Harbor Beach too! I have been to Martha’s Vineyard many times, but I have not been to Nantucket. We really MUST go one summer. Our son loves the Vineyard.
I LOVE it there so much! I’m on the South Shore of Boston, and while a great place to live, there is also something really special about the North Shore. GREAT photos…thanks!

I’m glad you enjoyed it….Gloucester is my hometown and it IS absolutely beautiful. You do not realize it’s beauty til you live away from it.

So idyllic! I love that classic boat in the fourth photo. Definitely one of those quintessentially “American” locales with lots of charm. Haven’t been in a while, but your photos make me want to revisit.

Oh those wisteria! So lovely…if you know how to prune them so they flower, not just go wildly rampaging over everything!!
I have a phone client that does her sessions with me at the beach, I can hear the waves in the back ground…. New England is the most beautiful place in the states…. I lived in Connecticut for 17 years and you picked a most lovely spot to be…… The houses are so cute with all the flower beds and stone pavement… I hope you enjoyed yourself…
