It’s always a bit strange living in the UK on Thanksgiving day. As everyone goes about their work and life, we quietly set the table, cook our traditional meal and celebrate in our usual festive manner.

I love Thanksgiving and the intent of the holiday! I have so much to be thankful for, and I am happy for a day to be reminded. Family, friends and health rank right at the top of my list. As do the friendships, connections and experiences that have come from blogging. The emails, comments, shared stories and phone calls enrich my life everyday. I want to thank everyone who continues to read my blog. Your support and encouragement makes it all worth while. Happy Thanksgiving!

Living the Expat life for over 18 years showed me that Thanksgiving, although a truly an American holiday, can be celebrated with even more meaning overseas–it takes a little more effort, family and friends are missed a little more, but all of the blessings of the year can be celebrated more consciously. Thank you for the fantastic posts of the past year.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving ~ from Canada where we are feeling left out today! Maybe everyone should celebrate the same date, a global day of thanks. Enjoy.

Do you live in London? If so, you must certainly know of the Thanksgiving Day service at St. Paul's for Americans living in or visiting the city. When we lived there in the late 1990s, we found it a festive way to celebrate. Have a lovely day.

You make just another Thursday in the UK very special indeed!
After all without those first pilgrims from the UK we wouldn't have TG here on the other side of the pond!
A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

happy thanksgiving, ronda- i'm glad you were able to celebrate our american tradition with your family while abroad. thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday, as it is truly about sharing time with family and friends in a non-commercial, joyous way. one just needs two ingredients: good food and good company, so no wonder it's a portable holiday too- suitable for celebrating in any corner of the world you find yourself!
