Today is one of those days that I wish I could click my heels and land in New York. I know that New York isn’t Kansas, nor is it my home, but it’s where I would really like to be today. A few weeks ago I received an invitation for an “intimate moment” with Alessandra Branca at her New York apartment followed by an evening book signing for her new book New Classic Interiors.

I recently had a chance to devour all the wonderful text and images. I promise this is one that you will want in your design library! Not only is Alessandra’s new book exquisite, she is donating all proceeds from the sale of the book to inner-city school programs for children in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington [Ross Global Charter Academy, New York; Marwen, Chicago; Children's Action Network, Los Angeles; The Arc, Washington]. Make a purchase and make a difference.

Totally exquisite. I adore her work and I am terribly sorry you cannot click your heels, I wish it for you, too. What is most exceptional is the fact that proceeds are going to inner-city schools. Totally my kind of person.

Amazing style and scope. The woman of the moment. Thanks for highlighting her–must order the book.

Ronda – Agreed re: magnificence of this book. The commodious size makes for an extraordinary visual experience—squint a bit and you feel like you are in the space represented on the page. Very high production values make this a special book. Would you please clarify re: proceeds going to charity—if it's all proceeds to charity or only those from NY event? If it's all proceeds, many people in my circle will be getting AB's wonderful book for Christmas!

I have been very disappointed with this season's new books, except for this one. The copy is zippy and intimate. The interiors breathe soul. And I love that she is donating the profits of this book to children's causes. She doesn't decorate with trends, she decorates with passion. And there is a huge difference.

      Hi Nell,
All of her proceeds … she is not making any money from the book, she’s donating it all. Pretty wonderful, huh!?!

      Ronda,

I love books and new ones at that. I love the top photo of that cozy bed shelter from the world outside.
This book will go on my wish list on my iPhone so I'm never at a loss for the title especially this one. It would be lucky to win a copy somehow. Well that's what wishlist's are for.

What a wonderful thing Alessandra is doing with donating the proceeds. All the more reason to get my hands on a copy of this stunning book!

      Hello Ronda,
I'm expecting Branca's book to be delivered at my door within the next few days…..what a wonderful gesture to donate all the proceeds to charity. Now, that's a class act.

Alessandra Branca's interiors take my breath away. I had the good fortune to have been invited into a home was by Alessandra Branca. It took my breath away. She is indeed the designer of the moment and the moniker is well earned. Patrician and elegant, Chicago is lovely to have her as our own.
